SOUTH WEST PUBLIC HEALTH TRAINING PROGRAMME

 

Lecturer / Academic Training Fellow in Public Health 

University of Bristol/University of the West of England/University of Exeter   

Grade: Specialty Registrar in Public Health

 

This post represents a rare opportunity to develop a career in academic Public Health.  You will be expected to undertake a substantial programme of research and apply for funding to undertake a higher degree or post-doctoral fellowship. In addition, you will complete specialist public health training.  You will also contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training.

You must possess MFPH part A and have sufficient service experience in public health and currently holds a National Training Number in the South West Public Health training programme. Evidence of an ability to undertake independent research, such as peer-reviewed publications, is important.  

These posts are split 70% academic time/ 30% service over three years, this timing could be variable depending on the appointed candidate. 

Appointments will be for up to 3 years’ dependant on experience and progress will be dependant on satisfactory Annual Review of Competence Progress reviews. The appointment will cease when CCT is reached.

This post is open to Public Health Specialty Registrars on the South West Public Health Training Programme from medical and multidisciplinary backgrounds.

There are up to 3 posts and applicants will be based at one of the three Academic institutions linked to the South West Public Health training programme.  Applications will be asked to indicate their preference of a particular Academic institution.

The postholder will join a vibrant multidisciplinary team engaged in teaching, research and knowledge exchange across a range of public health areas.
