The South West offers fantastic opportunities to train as a specialist in public health, in one of the UK's most popular regions to live and work in.
Specialty Registrar Posts
Recruitment for most of our public health posts is managed nationally through an annual recruitment round. The Faculty of Public Health website provides information on this round across the UK. Applicants make a single application, expressing their preferences for specific programmes and geographical zones. Assessment and selection is standardised across several centres in the UK. The public health specialty training programme selection process uses evidence based and validated selection methodology.
Our programme is open to candidates from medical and non-medical backgrounds according to nationally agreed eligibility criteria.
Information regarding national recruitment and eligibility can be found on the Faculty of Public Health website.
Academic Clinical Fellow Posts
As well as recruiting nationally to Specialty Registrar post, we also recruit locally to Academic Clinical Fellow posts. Applicants for these posts have to be from a medical background. Recruitment is done either via the Severn Deanery and linked to the University of Bristol or via the South West Peninsula Deanery and linked to the Peninsula Medical School.
Dental Public Health Posts
We also recruit Specialty Registrars onto the South West Public Health programme from a dentistry background in conjunction with the University of Bristol.
All queries regarding recruitment to the South West programme should be directed to the Training Programme Director, through the Public Health training programme generic email inbox PublicHealth.SW@hee.nhs.uk
