South West Public Health Development School 2019 - one day event

The Event
The South West Public Health Development School provides a unique opportunity for people working in a variety of fields within public health to expand their public health horizons at this event. Again this year, the Development School will be a one day event boasting a vibrant mix of workshops and learning activities. These sessions will provide an excellent opportunity to consider how to maximise public health opportunities and truly make a difference.
Who Should Attend?
The Development School is open to anyone working in a public health related field from across the South West. We welcome professionals from a variety of organisations and settings, from local authorities, CCGs, NHS England, Academia, Public Health England, Health Education England, voluntary and community settings.

There will be a wealth of opportunities for new learning and the discussion of new ideas. As always, the school will help to develop both individual practice and strengthen us as a public health community.
Registration and fees
The event will be free to attend. Places have been allocated to Training Locations in the South West region. There will be a small number of places available if you do not secure a place via a location, please contact Gemma Cooke to be added to the waiting list for a place.
Fringe Event
'How to Step out of your Comfort zone in comfort'
Lunchtime sessions will take place focussing on the ‘Notice’ element of the 5 ways to Wellbeing. The session will be an opportunity to try some physical exercises, breathing techniques and Mindfulness based exercises designed to calm the body and mind.

Transport
Exeter Racecourse is located just off the A38 (Exeter to Plymouth), five miles from the end of the M5 southbound.
Although clearly signposted from all directions, please note that access is via a sharp turn situated shortly after the brow of Haldon Hill.
If you are using a Sat Nav to find the venue, please use EX6 7XS as the postcode.
There are ample free parking spaces available at the venue.
Coach Transport
Coach transport has been arranged to/from Newton Abbott Station. The arrangements are as follows;
Wednesday 16th October – coach pick up from Newton Abbot station at 9.30am and take to Exeter Racecourse
Wednesday 16th October – coach pick up from Exeter Racecourse at 4.30pm and take to Newton Abbot station
It was decided to use Newton Abbot as the train station due to the volume of traffic in Exeter in the morning and evening rush hour.
We have also adjusted the start and finish times of the conference to coincide with the coach transport and the majority of train arrival/departure times.
