Aim of the Tutorial:
To assist registrars in preparing to become a consultant and support them to identify key areas and skills for further development.
Objectives of the Tutorial:
- To gain an understanding of the typical appointment process for consultants in local authority;
- To gain an understanding of preparation needed prior to interview and potential interview topics/questions;
- To consider key areas/skills registrars should develop to best prepare them for consultant jobs;
- To gain understanding of the challenges in making the transition from registrar to consultant;
- To consider areas of self-development in relation to consultant skills.
Main learning outcome:
EMS 13 (2015 curriculum: 9.1 and 9.3): Keep knowledge and skills up to date, including regular audit, appraisal and reflective learning
Registrars might also be able to expand on the tutorial to create evidence towards other learning outcomes.
