Public Health Training Experience in Cornwall and Isles of Scilly

Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly are a unique area to train given its mix of urban, rural and coastal communities. This offers trainees a chance to build a good work life balance that benefits from both natural and urban environments.

There are a lot of opportunities to work with a diverse public health team including our key functional areas (healthcare public health, health improvement, health protection and the wider determinants of health). This includes working with a range of Universities including a recent successful award of a NHIR Health Determinants Research Collaboration grant, which aims to build research capacity across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

As a unitary authority with one Integrated Care Board and close partnerships with voluntary sector organisations, there are a plethora of opportunities to work with a range of statutory and non-statutory organisations to gain a breadth of training whether it is working with the wider local authority, the NHS or within the wider voluntary sector.
