Annual leave entitlements will be in line with either Agenda for Change or Medical and Dental terms and conditions. For all Specialty Registrars, who commenced the training programme from 1st January 2010 onwards, the leave year runs from their commencement date.

For part-time workers, annual leave should be calculated on a pro-rata basis and be taken in hours with an allocation for a pro-rata amount of bank holidays.

Annual leave will be managed in line with the Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust annual leave policy.

Medical and Dental leave entitlements are not set out in this policy but are set out in Terms and Conditions of Service of Hospital Medical and Dental Staff and doctors in Public Health Medicine and the Community Health Service in England and Wales.

All annual leave should be agreed with educational supervisors in advance using the relevant form.

Authorised forms should be returned to the Training Programme Office to be kept in the trainees’ personal files.
