Dear Colleague

We are writing to invite you to the 19th South West Public Health Development School, which will be taking place at The Imperial Hotel in Torquay on Tuesday 22nd and Wednesday 23rd September 2015. Further details can be found by visiting: Development School 2015 and the booking form can be found at Development School booking form

The Development School is a unique opportunity for people working in a variety of fields relevant to public health to expand their public health horizons at our new seafront venue in Torquay. More information about the venue is available from The Imperial Hotel Website.

The programme for this year’s school reflects our theme of Integration of Public Health services and roles for specialist public health. There will be a wealth of opportunities for new learning and the discussion of new ideas. As always, the school will help to develop both individual practice and strengthen us as a public health community.

This year the programme format will remain similar to previous years and we have already secured a fantastic range of very interesting workshops.  In previous years we have had a plenary debate on Day 2 to draw the school to a close. This year we are going to follow a ‘Question Time’ format and give everyone the chance to consider and bring questions around current topical issues.

There will be a range of social activities and fringe sessions over the two days. The evening entertainment on the Tuesday promises to be popular, so please try to join us for the dinner if you can. The whole event provides a great opportunity to network with public health colleagues, old and new, from across the South West.

Very excitingly this year we are able to offer the option of staying on site at The Imperial Hotel, however the booking process will differ to that of previous years. If you require accommodation, either for one night or two, please book this in advance directly with the hotel through reservations (registrars will also need to do this). We have agreed a single room rate of £90 including breakfast per night. Please call the reservations department on 01803 206150 and quote ‘Health Education South West’to receive the agreed rate. Other room options may be available upon request to the hotel. Payment for rooms will need to be made directly to the hotel upon check out unless you are a South West Public Health Registrar.

When you register to attend the conference using our Development School booking form, this will be for the conference fee and evening dinner on the 22nd September only.  All booking details can be found at Development School 2015 and if you have any questions regarding the booking process, please contact Public.Health@southwest.hee.nhs.uk

We hope that you will be able to attend and look forward to seeing you there.

Best wishes,
