Exciting new venue!

The South West Public Health Development School provides a unique opportunity for people working in a variety of fields within public health to expand their public health horizons at our new seafront venue in Torquay

A vibrant mix of workshops and learning activities will provide an excellent opportunity to consider how to maximise public health opportunities and truly make a difference.

Delegates can choose to attend one or both days and will have the opportunity to attend a dinner to network with colleagues from across the region.

Who Should Attend?

The Development School is open to anyone working in a public health related field from across the South West. We welcome professionals from a variety of organisations and settings, from local authorities, CCGs, NHS England, Public Health England, Health Education England, voluntary and community settings.

Conference overview

The programme for this year’s school reflects our theme of integration in public health – INTEGRATION AND COLLABORATION. You can now find a draft version of the programme uploaded.

There will be a wealth of opportunities for new learning and the discussion of new ideas. As always, the school will help to develop both individual practice and strengthen us as a public health community.

Registration, fees and accommodation

Registration is now OPEN, please see uploaded the invitation letter. To register your attendance at the Development School, please complete the Development School Booking Form. Please note that the booking form is for conference fees and the evening dinner ONLY.

Very excitingly this year we are able to offer the option of staying on site at The Imperial Hotel, however the booking process will differ to that of previous years.

If you require accommodation, either for one night or two, please book this in advance directly with the hotel through reservations. We have agreed a single room rate of £90 including breakfast per night. All delegates (including SWPH Registrars) that require accommodation will need to book directly with the hotel by calling 01803 206150. Please quote ‘Health Education South West’ to receive the agreed rate.

Other room options may be available upon request to the hotel. Payment for rooms will need to be made directly to the hotel upon check out unless you are a South West Public Health Registrar.

PLEASE NOTE - Booking a room does not mean you have registered to attend the conference. Registration is only confirmed upon receipt of a completed booking form using the online link above.

Question Time

This year the programme format will remain similar to previous years and we have already secured a fantastic range of very interesting workshops.  In previous years we have had a plenary debate on Day 2 to draw the school to a close. This year we are going to follow a ‘Question Time’ format and give everyone the chance to consider and bring questions around current topical issues. Delegates will have the opportunity to tweet questions. Follow us on Twitter @swphdevschool Tweet #swphdevschool15. If you would prefer to email the team with your question prior to the day, please direct these to Public.health@southwest.hee.nhs.uk
